About Me
PhD PHILOSOPHER

Welcome! I’m a philosopher and speaker exploring the crossroads of technology, art, and media. My work dives into the big questions: how do humans and machines shape each other? What does it mean to embody technology, and how does it influence our everyday lives? From the aesthetics of digital worlds to the evolving nature of human-machine relations, I reflect on how these changes impact our future—and how we can create more open, inclusive, and democratic spaces in response.
I thrive on crossing disciplinary boundaries, engaging with visual arts, robotics, and cognitive sciences to spark fresh ideas and perspectives. Whether you’re from the cultural, political, or industrial world, I’m always interested in collaborations that challenge the status quo and imagine new possibilities.
Let’s think, create, and shape the future together!
I offer a phenomenological and aesthetic perspective on AI-driven technologies, focusing on the experiential and ethical dimensions often overlooked in tech discourse. That’s why I see fashion, cinema, and art as key topics within the broader philosophy of technology—they reveal how our perceptions and movements are shaped, even engineered, by technology. By exploring these cultural practices through the lens of embodiment theories, I aim to understand how technology intertwines with our senses and daily experiences, and how artistic expressions can illuminate this process. I’m open to international collaboration, diving into how cultural differences shape both the use of technology and creative practices in order to create sustainable ways of life in beyond anthropocentrism!
My philosophical interests are deeply complemented by a passion for culinary culture and the unique forms of knowledge preserved and shared through food. Just as technology and art shape our perceptions, food serves as a powerful medium for understanding cultural identity, memory, and sensory experience. I’m fascinated by how culinary practices reflect embodied knowledge, connecting us to traditions, environments, and each other in meaningful ways.
For reflections on food, culture, and the stories they tell—along with recipes and explorations of international cuisines—visit the Culinary Pillowbook section on my homepage or follow me on Instagram (culinarypillowbook). It’s a space where philosophy meets the plate, celebrating the rich tapestry of flavors and ideas that nourish us.
I’m currently based at Leuphana University Lüneburg, where I work as a speaker, academic instructor, and free thinker, exploring the intersections of philosophy, technology, and culture. Before this, I was appointed as a Foreign Expert at Shanxi University in Taiyuan, China—a fascinating chapter in my academic journey. I earned my PhD from Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena in 2009 with a thesis on Zeiterfahrung und Ontologie (Experience and Ontology of Time), diving deep into the perspectives of modern time philosophy (published in 2012).
Over the years, I’ve held visiting positions at the University of Flensburg (2023/24), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2022), the University of Kassel (2020/21), and GCAS in Dublin. My recent research has been recognized with two prestigious fellowships—one at the University of Konstanz and another at MECS, Leuphana University—both funded by the German Research Association (DFG).
Earlier in my career, I had the chance to teach aesthetics as a guest professor at Bauhaus University Weimar in 2009, followed by an appointment as Junior Professor at Leuphana University in 2010.
